Where small donations can go a long way to help preserve the great outdoors of Colorado. Wild Bird Center owner, Frank Dodge, was recently elected to the Board of Trustees of the Palmer Land Trust which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Since being formed in 1977, PLT has preserved over 50,000 acres of Colorado’s undeveloped land. The Palmer Land Trust is a public, non-profit land trust composed of ordinary citizens, families, and businesses, including the Wild Bird Center, dedicated to the permanent protection of open space; and agricultural, scenic, and natural lands in Southeastern Colorado. To conserve these resources, the PLT works on behalf of the community with private landowners and public agencies. By preserving diverse, undeveloped, private and public lands in Southeastern Colorado, PLT also secures habitat for wildlife and native plants; supports agriculture and ranching on family lands; provides recreational and educational opportunities; protects important historical sites; and maintains scenic vistas for the benefit of present residents and future generations. You can join the Palmer Land Trust for a small donation. In addition to joining, any additional donations you might wish to make can help PLT raise $75,000 in new money this year to meet a challenge grant that will provide even more funds to help meet PLT goals. For more information, visit www.palmerlandtrust.org. If you join or donate to the Palmer Land Trust, please include a notation that you learned about it through the Wild Bird Center. |
